The brief concept is at this development stage, to allow place walls automatically and their foundations, when walls are above the terrain. Players will be also able to select foundations without walls above floor level. In such a way, platforms and terraces will be able to be created. Later walls can be placed on the top of the foundation floor.
Whats Next:
- Need to fix a few critical breaking changes here and there.
- Ensure that saving loading works for constructions on land plots. I think something broke.
- Be able to build and load constructions with characters UMes in a play mode (not in map editor).
- Review UI design. There are planned and already investigated some critical changes.
- Fix furniture placing.
- Fix the main menu. Something broke accidentally.
- A bit of polish but mainly stabilise the game for this phase of UMeFate build and prepare the demo update.
- There is also some potential big bonus content in a production. But atm not mentioning details, in the case it won't end up anytime soon in a game itself. There are various technical challenges with it, to be resolved.
- After all that, BIG Start on character interactions and autonomy (classic AI).
Technicalities:
- While multi storey buildings are technically possible, there are many aspects to be resolved, to be actually functional.
Primarily needed are stairs, or ramps. This is planned in the future, but not the priorities atm. Instead, there may be some ramp placeholder added in near times.
- Need to re-add switch options for doorways and walls in UI.
- Need to add UI function to place walls, or disable walls placing, when placing fundations. This is to allow building ground floor terraces.
- There are various bugs (some mentioned earlier), which still need to be hunted down, which some also have been freshly introduced.
- Snapping walls between floors is one of prominent visible issues, yet this is not as important to be fixed for now, as it is not breaking anything. But definitely it is nice to be fixed eventually.
- There is a critical bug, when placing certain configurations of walls. This has to go.
